Comments: Hello everybody, As it has been awhile since I wrote anything I thought I would, once again, inquire if anyone from the Schweinfurt contingent, 68-71, is out there. I read entries from Karl Schubert but few others. So here are some names: Dean David, Pat Nickel, Patricia Bourgiose, Leroy Gonce, Donna Haverland, Ralph Ott, Henry Trustee. Anyone else is welcome to give me a shout if they like. This is a great website and I give Bob many thanks for maintaining it. Hi Robert, Hi Larry Taube.

Comments: fellow wolves-message to "brian"-don't give up just yet. I don't know what the problem was in the past or what the fuss is all about. However the whole idea here is to just have fun and enjoy keeping in touch with classmates. I sincerely believe in malice towards none and charity to all and we are all brothers and sisters here and whatever similiar cliche you want to use. Let's move on and participate and build bridges wherever possible.

Comments: Still out here looking for friends from Class of 1974!! Ken and I are still trying to find people. My brother just notified me of another registry to help us find all our old "brats". It is www.military-brats.com. If you haven't registered there too, do so and tell all your friends. It is another way to find friends that were at other duty stations (like all the rest of us). Found an old friend recently that was in NY when we were stationed there! Hope to see as many of you as possible at the reunion! I have an additional email address which is my work address so feel free to write to me there! jthompson@hkis.edu.hk Take care and Bob, keep up the good work! You are very much appreciated. Jean

Comments: hullo all you wolves.... I hope to make it to the reunion, but I'm not sure, so I don't think I can book ahead. If anyone there decides they are willing to share "crash space" however, please let me know. I was terribly sad to hear of Coach Sellars...and seeing the pic of Pete Wetherington brought back some memories. class of 77 has twenty people attending? any possibility that we can post a list of e-addys of those attending? To anyone who had my bellydancer@military-brats.com addy, its not longer valid and this one should be for quite awhile to come. With love and laughter...still dancing and recently in touch with Ms Verny!! Shakin it happily.. Rae Watson--yes, it's Julie, I just don't know that name anymore, and changed way too much to use it!

Comments: I am sorry for writing stupid things in your guest book. I loved my time at WAHS, and I am proud to be a former wolf. I guess I am a coward and do not deserve to be viewing this web page. A while back I was looking for an ex-girlfriend that I dated at WAHS. I posted a message and it was erased. I was upset at the web site and decided to perform the immature act of posting inapropriate messages. Mr. Manwaring was my Algebra teacher, I thought he was erasing my messages to spite me. After today I promise never to visit this site again because I am not worthy of being amongst the class acts at WAHS. I am sorry for disrupting this wonderful site. Keep up the good work Bob.

Comments: Found this page a long time ago and thought I would check back to see if anything was new. Sadly, I see that Coach Sellers has died and its really got me down. He was a great person and I have valued his friendship very much over the years. He always encouraged me and kept my spirits up during all the crap that makes up the average high school experience. I took every art class that I could since my freshman year. Hell, he made it possible for me to take two studio art classes during my Senior year. I can't help but think that my 4.0 GPA that year was definitely a gift from that kind man's efforts. He is a big reason why I went on to minor in Art in college, and for that I will be forever indebted to him. I always admired his interest in just about everything and have done my best to try to promote his curiosity about the world in myself. He treated everyone as an equal. I will miss him.

Comments: I wanted to add to Larry Taube's memoriam to Herb Lugo and John Sellers, which was quite eloquent, that thanks to Bob Manwarings efforts, we can all meet again as Wolves and renew our friendships regularly, and in so doing we can remember Herb and John and others while we carry on the tradition of Our School, of which they were both a big part, as were you all. And in so doing, Herb and John live on in our memories forever, and are never forgotten. Its likely that this will go on as long as even one of us from Wurzburg High is left here on this earth, living and breathing. I still marvel at the magnitude of the impact that this one tiny web site has had on all of us, particularly as I meet again across thousands of miles my old friends [and old enemies, it seems, or at least those who refuse to answer my emails as such for whatever reason I might have pissed them off 30 years ago, LOL]. Vegas in July 2000 should exceed all expectations, I am sure. I can hardly wait to see the particular faculty members from Wurzburg who most influenced my life, they being Bob Knych and Mike Chitty, and the most influential upper classmen that I have always admired, they being Joe Nadeau, Calvin Bernard, and Mike McNerney. My Wurzburg letter jacket wore out decades ago and I had to dispose of it. My class ring lives on and is still beautiful. Nice design on the rings, Larry! See you all in Vegas !!!

Comments: Well - I just returned from a 2 week vacation auf Deutcheland in which I visited WAHS and a few old teachers. The place looks great. The Green Bay Packers were teaching a Football Camp while we were there! They have the largest PX and food facility in Europe now! It's where the Toy Store used to be. Saw Flom, Tucker, Renner, Verny, Payne (One Payne deserves another!)Depauw, Sullivan and a few others...Since school wasn't in, they were relaxed and seemingly jolly.......Whoever said you can never go back home was a big fat liar!!

Comments: Hello Wolves! Reading Larry's and Karl's comments about class rings brought back memories for me. During my freshman through junior years I attended a high school in Indiana. Most of my friends (who weren't army brats) got their class rings early on in high school, but my parents wouldn't let me get mine until my senior year because (as they so wisely knew) we would probably move and I would end up attending a different school. Sure enough, a couple of weeks into my senior year we did move to Wurzburg and I finally got my class ring. Larry, despite your "method" of picking out our class rings (which I got a kick out of reading), you did well. I always thought it was a really nice design and I have to tell you that when I got back stateside, I had many compliments on that ring. Incidently, I wasn't the only one in my family who had to attend a different high school my senior year--my brothers Bob and Ron also did. I think Ron had it the roughest, though, because he attended three different high schools during his sophmore, junior and senior years! Bob Manwaring, you have created a great website and I just want to thank you for making it possible to hear from fellow classmates again! I really enjoyed my senior year at WAHS! Karen '72

Comments: My fellow wolves,.... Edna Lugo's recent note reminded me of an incident many years ago. I was on the wrestling team with Coach Sellars from '70 to '72. Herb Lugo was 2 years younger but was already showing promise as a really great wrestler. You could see that with each match he was getting better and no doubt he would be champion some day. One thing he had in abundance very early was great confidence and a really good sense of humor. He really enjoyed wrestling immensely but did not take himself too seriously. At one particular match (I think it was Munich) we were being photographed during our matches. Herb Lugo simply could not let this wonderful opportunity pass by. He was easily beating his man and was playing with him like he on the lake and had good sized Bass on the line and did not want to reel him in just yet and was content to let his fish flop around on the mat awhile. He could see the photographer was desperately manuvering for a good shot and Herb accomodated him. Herb wrestled his man to the edge of the mat and brought his opponents head around so that Herb could look right into the camera and give that unmistakable grin he was born with and put his man's exhausted face underneath him and allow the photographer to get the perfect shot of them together like brothers playing in the grass. Coach Sellars could see what was happening and was not amused by this silliness and yelled for Herb to "Just Pin 'Em! Now!" And Herb, in a fraction of a second, did just that. And he returned to the bench with his head down and a remorseful look avoiding Coach Sellars look of disgust. And when Coach Sellars turned his back Herb motioned to the photographer with his thumbs up "Didjya get it?" And the pleased photographer gave back the conspiratorial thumbs up sign and Herb kept his head down but you could not help but see him smile with glee. It is now sad to see that Herb and Coach are both gone. But I cannot help but smile and think Coach Sellars and Herb Lugo are on some heavenly cloud having a cup of coffee and Coach is telling Herb, "Now just tell me what do you think you were doing?" and Herb is saying, "Honest Coach! The guy was really tough and just would not go down!".....

Comments: fellow wolves, I read with some interest Karl's note about the Balfour class ring. But there is a brief story that deserves telling and those of you that know me understand there is nothing I like better than a good story. At least for the Class of '72 I am responsible for the design and order of the ring. I was class president during my junior year and one of my duties was the selection of the ring for the following year. Joston's and Balfour were the only two companies around at the time. Joston's sent their representative, some elderly distinguised gentleman with renderings. Also he had an advantage as Joston's had been the company doing the class rings for many years. Balfour was new in the business and had never sold class rings previusly. Their representive was a beautiful blonde creature from some college in Pennsylvania working her way through school. The decision on the rings was mine. She showed me drawings of rings but all I could see was her beautiful smile and nothing else mattered. I signed whatever had to be signed and Balfour was in.

Comments: I seem to have lost my Mojo (baby!!). I'm bored in the office and daydreaming of those beautiful Wurzburg Nights. I'm heading to Vegas next weekend as part of an unofficial (and unappointed) "Reunion 2000" advance scout team. Serious Congrats to Lynette Boggs!! You were a bit before my time at WAHS but my mom, Andi McGhee (Spanish teacher at WAHS), always raved about you!! Keep Vegas safe and pure for those of us unfortunate enough NOT to live there! Kelly Haggerty ('85), what's up with your one e-mail and out, non-responsive self? I was joking about the Prison thing but I can't imagine that the "Hagg" would've been too offended to write back. Anyway, be happy and healthy all Wolves of yesteryear!! P.S. All 83-86 folks: is it not unfortunate that our formative musical years were so heavily influenced by groups like Flock of Seagulls, Soft-Cell, Loverboy, and Duran Duran? I find myself wanting to dye my hair platinum blond and wear it in a "flop" cut for no apparent reason. Oh well.

Comments: Balfour did a great job of reconditioning my 1972 class ring! The new purple Alexanderite is beautiful. The resizing worked perfectly. Scroll down to Record #190 below for details on how to send them your old class ring too, or else if you never bought one before and want to buy one now, you can do that too. For those of you who wear a college class ring, youre probably not interested. And if you went to a really arrogant school like U.S.M.A. you probably still wear your college ring on your left hand, even though the Army has dumped you by now and left you on your own! [GO NAVY BEAT ARMY !!] As for my college class ring, it rests at the bottom of the botany pond on the south end of campus; I hated that university. Wurzburg Wolves forever !!!

Comments: I was informed of this site by my parents who stay in touch with the Szczepanik's, Sullivan's, Fraze's, Manwarring's, and all the other wonderful people that made and make Wurzburg such a great memory for myself. I was elated to hear about the site but was heartbroken because mom called me to tell me about coach Sellers passing. Coach Sellers taught so much more than art and wrestling, he taught life and all the attributes needed to succeed and he did so through example. The three years (79-80, 80-81, & 81-82) I spent as his TA and wrestling for him were a lesson in happiness and kindness as he was always both. Coach Sellers influenced more young people than anyone will ever know and is sadly missed.

Comments: Fellow wolves, Those of you that are hockey fans may know the Dallas Stars won the championship and the Stanley Cup. What you may not know, and I am proud to report, is that a fellow wolf ,Robert Santana class of '74, is on the staff of the Dallas Stars. He enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame and added luster to the glory of dear old WAHS by appearing on national television during the series running the Zamboni during intermission. Congratulations to him and the Stars. I happened to catch the event quite by happenstance as I was sitting in Spoto's Bar and Grille on the water in West Palm Beach drinking a Stoli Seabreeze and eating a fine plate of shrimp jumbalaya with fresh grated parmesean. It occured to me that life is always interesting. Thank you Robert for extending my horizons and giving me a reason to become a hockey fan. larry taube '72

Comments: If you are interested in dusting off, repairing, and resizing your W.A.H.S. class ring, so you can wear it again after all these years, especially to the Y2K reunion in Vegas, you can have it done by sending it to Balfour at 7211 Circle S Road / Austin TX 78745. I sent mine certified -- U.S. mail w/ a return receipt, which cost $4.30 postage and it did indeed get lost at their factory, so I needed to call them at 1-800-BALFOUR ext. 8 (repairs dept.) and give them the article number so they could find it in their files. They are resizing it now, replacing the purple alexanderite, cleaning and buffing the base of the well where the stone fits. Total repair cost is $51.71 for all that. Not bad !!! I can hardly wait til it gets done. I hated college so much that I took my college ring and threw it into the botany pond on the south side of campus, where it rests to this day. And I want to flog the geeks that talked me into going to that university !!! Au contraire, I loved Wurzburg. And I should have listened to Coach/Counsellor Bob Knych and gone to Cal Berkeley instead of where I went to college. See you all in Vegas !!! /s/ Karl Schubert '72

Steve was a great study partner in Trig and Analytic Geometry. I thought we'd never survive that class with Mrs. Harris, but somehow we made it through. Flip DeCamp's wife just gave birth to a son I believe. Schuy and my hubby were in a pre-command course together back in february, I met Eilleen, Schuy's wife. I brought the yearbook to our class. Schuy was not thrilled with that, but we had some good laughs. He should be off to Ft. Riley KS by now to also command a battalion. Schuy if your out there, it's a blast. Any other wolves, if you are ever in Ft. HOOD, please drop me a line.

Comments: Hi All! Just spent the last hour reading the most recent entries. I saw names that brought back lots of memories. I hope to hear from those of you that I sent e-mails to. Am going to see Peggy Erb next week-end in Branson, Mo. Hopefully will also make it back there on July 7th for a Styx concert. She and I want to relive some youth. My travels take me to many places and I am hoping that by revealing some of my destinations I might be able to hook up with some of you! I am generally not on this e-mail (maybe because I am generally on the road?), so if you know me and would like to contact me you can do so at MHorton@Sunterra.com. (Quite humbly I must say the Horton is there purely because I did not want to go through the headache of changing all my paperwork back to Strickland.) So if you got confused, I am Michele Strickland. I will be in the Houston area June 9th-11th, Branson 12th-16th, Las Vegas June 23rd-25th and Orlando June 29th-July 1st. If you live in any of these areas or close enough to hook up, contact me at my work e-mail. I would love to get together. I am planning my yearly trip back to Wertheim, Germany this fall. Also, will be in Frankfurt and Munich. My sister lives in "Muenchen"! I certainly hope to hear from some of you and having the chance to see you! Greetings and I look forward to Vegas next year. Comments: Dear wolves, I have to add my two deutsch marks to the comments about the recent meeting in San Francisco. I left West Palm Beach in a state of high anxiety because the travel did not go exactly as planned. It had something to do with being all thngs to all poeple. Nevertheless I found myself on the airplane winging my way to San Fran on a Saturday to meet my dear old buddies Karl, Mike, and new friends Mary and Genevieve. On the airplane out there I was seated next to one of the usual high mileage Palm Beach Socialites that trolls the fine Palm Beach bars and stalks millionaires with bad hearts. But I liked her anyway because she brought her own olives in a plastic baggie on the airplane so that she was never too far from a really good martini. My kind of gal....I got off the airplane after midnight and saw Mike McNerney for the first time in 27 years. It felt like I was meeting a brother after too many years. A quick burger at Mels Diner and I was off to bed. I woke up the next morning to have breakfast on the 37th floor of the Hyatt in Union Square and the city was laid open for me like a young...well...anyway. That day Mike and I spent time riding the ferry to Sausalito catching up on the turns and twists of our recent lives. We met Karl at Fishermans Wharf. It was high energy because Karl does not do anything half throttle. He dominated the room and I absolutely loved every minute of it. We then moved the party to the fancy shmancy Westin St Francis on Union Square. We joined Mary Hefty from class of 81 and in the fading light of Sunday evening in that grand hotel we talked for hours and no insult between us was too base to be withheld. I reminded Mike how upset I am about the girlfriend stolen from me 27 years ago and Karl added to my burden by disclosing he had stolen others that had been forgotten until now. But I exacted my revenge as it was established after some debate over drinks and appetizers that I had turned out the most handsome of the bunch to date. Genevieve met us briefly for a photo op but had to leave and return to some dinner obligations. We finished the evening in the North Beach Beat District listening to some of the best local blues bands I have ever heard. Again I returned to my room at 2 am and caught my flight at 7 am to return to West Palm Beach in order to once again pick up my sword and do battle with life, love, death and desire. larry taube '72

I think the only person I've been able to stay in touch with over the years is Chris Baillie. After leaving Wurzburg in 82, I attended Texas A&M where I got my commission. I'm married and have a wonderful 11 year-old daughter. I've been TDY back to Germany several times over the years and managed to visit Wurzburg while TDY in 93. This year, I'll take two weeks of leave to vacation in Germany and I'm planning to spend at least two days of it in Wurzburg. I'm currently assigned to HQ, Stabilization Force 7, and will deploy early next year to Bosnia-Herzegovina. I'll miss out on the 2000 reunion, but I'll keep you all in my thoughts. Comments: Greetings All! Well San Francisco lived up to its reputation for fun in the City. Met with Genevieve Knych and Mary Hefty who were more than gracious with their time meeting with a decades older crowd. But we showed that we could hold our own and add to the moment. Mary demonstrated to Larry, Karl and myself how to Drive in San Francisco. Mary jumped right in with both feet and a 5 spd transmission and drove like a True California Native. Testament to growing up as a Brat and being able to adapt to new cultures quickly. I believe Mary's adage is "when the going gets wierd, the wierd turn pro" With Larry Taube '72 and Karl Schubert '72 we all enjoyed Dim Sum with an attitude and a few Gin & Tonics for me. I was later trying to brush this thing off my shoulder and mentioned my concern to Mary, who without skipping a beat while talking with Larry and Karl told me that it was the floor and for me to get up as I had to take pictures. Earlier that day, Larry and I caught up on the past 28 years of history and did the Tourist thing cruising around "The City" taking a tour boat ride to Sausalito and enjoying Sunday's weather. We met up with Karl at the Buena Vista (Great Irish Coffee's!) and the Three of us became an Elemental Force of Time Traveler's. It was great to make the connection to our collective Past's and catch up on our Lives since Wurzburg. Yeah I still golf, but it is not the same thing as it used to be warming up by hitting "shag" balls from the #1 Tee into the Hawk Missle site and watching them bounce off the radars and machine gun nests. Maybe not everyone's sense of fun but then I've always been (as the doctors put it) "Not Well" As Photography still goes, I still get my best shots in the Women's room at Shell Gas Stations. Karl and I talked about Mr. Degler's class...remember the term "mathematizing?" Larry and I lived in the Same Stairwell in Kitzingen, Gebaude 324 L. Crash pads and Cherry Pies right Larry? Long hearfelt discussions between Larry, Donna Canada and myself solving all the worlds ills, and listening to Larry strumming some chords of music from his six string. And me dancing for quarters or was it D-marks in Downtown Kitzingen by the Frankisher Hof? Speaking of which, you still owe me 20 marks one brotchen and some Gummies Larry. Marvin Barr...were your ears burning?? Remember Nurnberg and the demonstration by the Bahnhof? I had you and Larry walking in it so I could get a pic of you. Lord it's a wonder we weren't beat up. So to Larry, If any of you come up to Seattle we'll consume mass quanities and I'll show you the local sites of interest. Genevieve, Karl and Mary...Thanks! it was a great time, I am looking forward to the Reunion next year!

And we reminisced for over six hours as we dined on "dim sum" appetizers at their elegant guest bar. Mary Hefty '81 was also there, and Genevieve Knych '82 made a brief appearance so we could get a good group photo, and we got several of the 5 of us to send to Bob M. You can all see them when Bob gets a chance to post them. And in case any of your ears were ringing over that weekend, here are the people whom we had the pleasure to gossip about while we were all together: Chief Hamby '61, Jim '69 & Joe '70 Nadeau, Mike '68 and Dolores '70 Besheri, Sharon Allain '70, John '70 and Sheila '72 Laverty, Calvin Bernard '70, Mark '70 and Jeannie '72 Hirsch, Steve Robinson '70, George Williams '70, Susan '70 and Paul '72 Ashley, Pam '70 and Danny '72 Murphy, Walt Smith '71, Walt Hudson '71, Linda Irwin '71, Karel '71 and Karen '72 Exeter, Marvin Barr '72, Lynn Huff '72, Uwe Samuel '72, Tomi Senger '72, Mike Zehner '72, Bill Beeler '72, Al Zipp '72, Anne Bushyhead '72, Sam Goodhope '73, Loyce Meyers '73, Lauren Peters '73, Mike Zeredy '72, Pete Goodyear '72. Then we flipped through the 1971 yearbook which Mike had brought along and then we gossipped about everyone under the sun! We decided that there needs to be a special rule set forth and strictly enforced, to the effect that EVERYONE should and must reply to their Emails WITHOUT EXCEPTION. If you feel that you are one of the guilty parties, then it is time to MAKE AMENDS !!! See you all in Vegas next year !!!

Comments: Steve, you forgot the other short lived episode of the Steve McGhee show, where Ricky Martin (i.e. Steve McGhee)was working as a night lounge cabaret, transvestite singer to fund his way through neuropsychology school at UCLA. I believe some of his Menudo counterparts Ray (Frank Quintana), Charlie (Rick Ulian) were also in this episode. The crowd starting booing him in the episode when he broke into the latin version of Living La Vida Loca, with a Mendudo-New Kids on the Block Twist. Ricky, (i.e. Steve McGhee)broke down in tears and stated "You just don't appreciate me, the individualized me". And that's how the song Living La Vida Loca came to be

I'm seeing a whole lot of names I remember, but as I slowly and painfully approach mid-life, I find that my memory is not what it used to be and I'm having trouble putting faces to some of them. And me with my yearbooks stashed in my folk's cellar. I've heard from so many of my former classmates and I just want to let you know how much it has meant to me. And Marc, of course. In case you all don't know, yes I married Marc Jannsen after I told EVERYONE I could never go out with someone who was such a good friend. Fifteen years, five cars, two kids and two dogs later, I'm married to my best friend. God must be up there just dying laughing at the irony. Steve McGhee, I remember you pretty well...still got that mustache you were so proud of? Tried to write to you snail mail a few years ago after we made a visit to Jerry and Chris in Ohio, but it came back. Glad to hear you're still kicking, and with your sense of humor in tact!! Comments: Jennifer, I tried to e-mail you unsuccessfully so I thought I'd communicate this way. You may recognize my name (Steve McGhee) from my short-lived sitcom called "The Steve McGhee Show". It was a miserable failure due, at least in part, to lack of interesting subject matter (also, it was opposite the Cosby Show in 1989/90). In fact, in the only episode that actually aired, we find Steve McGhee (played by, coincidentally, Ricky Martin during his Menudo days) trapped in an interminably long and boring Algebra II class being teased by many of the female students. Lacking the requisite social skills to successfully handle this situation, Steve McGhee (i.e. Ricky Martin) hurls his ham and cheese sandwich at one of his tormentors and yells "you better stop teasing me, because when you do it makes me feel like I'm not a worthwile and interesting individual" [poor dialogue/script writing will ALWAYS sink the show... no matter how good the acting]. Anyways, Jennifer, to be honest, I'm not sure how you recognize my name. I have no connection to El Paso (except through ex-girlfriends who lived their at some point in their lives... Dawn Burnett and Cheryl Treusdell.... do those names ring bells?] In any case, thanks for providing the stimulus to further avoid my work; Keep hope alive, and as an old wise man once said "I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy".

I should have some of them up on the web in a week or so if anyone is interested. It was kind of sad to see that the old parade grounds and football fields had been turned to parking lot and PX facilities. It is a shame that many of the people there spend their time on base, never venturing more than a few clicks from the nearest PX. There is so much to see and do.

He always allowed Greg M. and myself to pretty much concentrate on our own artistic endeavors while encouraging us with that particular style exclusive to him. Some may remember the Wolf Mural I painted above his desk if you ever took his class. His spirit continues to live on through an extended family, more than he even probably realized. Between his class, and tying up the pretty red headed girl in fetal pig intestines during Biology...they are some of my fondest memories of school. God Speed John...

Comments: fellow wolves. I am not of the opinion that high school was the best time of my life. I think my days at Florida State University were the best days. I matured and came to terms with life. However I do think about my time at Wurzburg and Kitzingen often. My time in Germany was certainly just as important. I developed an attitude that I was going to milk life for every thing that could be obtained. I played football, wrestled, was in school plays and participated in student government. And after all that I filled every moment available with trips and social events. I was always restless and needed something to do. And fortunately the people in Wurzburg and Kitzingen were kind. I remember on the day I arrived in Kitzingen John Laverty did not wait for me to introduce myself. He bounded down the hill and dragged me up to a crowd and introduced me to everyone as the new kid from Florida and insisted I drop everything and get on the bus for football camp. And in an instant I made 60 new friends. And I grieved for every one that left when their fathers rotated back to the states. So now some 27 years later I am the same guy that just wants to go to the gasthaus with all of you and have round of Biers und Singen......

Comments: Well, I finally sat down to read the guest book. Reading Schubert's and Taube's missives made me think a lot about Wurzburg. I started out in Wurzburg American Elementary School in 1966 and finally left Wurzburg American High School in February 1972. My dad was sent to Viet Nam in 1969; the family stayed in Wurzburg--actually in Gerbrun--until my dad got restationed in Wurzburg. In Gerbrun, we (my mother, Else Goodhope (AYA bookkeeper) and Doris Barth (AYA director and teen director for a bit))lived close to St. Killian's. Aside from that we lived in Buildings 108 and 113 (across from the school). Kids from Wildflecken, however, oftentimes made it to school before I did. I remember spending many Sunday afternoons in the Leighton Theater, Saturday football games down on the Post, Friday and Saturday basketball games, and a lot of pool and fussball, as well as dances, at the AYA. Oh yeah, and in the summer, catching the 12:30 bus every day to Gieblestadt for swimming. And, who can forget the boat rides, the trips throughout Europe (which was like going from Arizona to California), rollerskating at Erlangen, and Berchtesgarden? I think the 1969 varsity football team (led by Steve Robinson, Sam Coleman, the Nadeau brothers, Nathan Hart (?))tied for the Silver Division title. I also think our JV basketball team tied for first in 1969 and 1970, while the varsity did quite well in the tournament. I remember we had two 6'6" guys--Nick Shelts and______. Maybe I don't remember so well.... Anyway, the best memories are always about the friends (too many, fortunately, to list and bore folks)and the teachers. The dynamic duo of Mr. Boch and Mr. Jones, Mr. Sanders (World History), Herr Gaul, Mr. Chitty and a dozen others left me with indelible and fond memories of a great time and a great place. Well, sorry this is so long, write me if you want. I'll see some of you in Las Vegas next year. Take care.

Comments: I only spent two years at Wurzburg High. It was my 8th and 9th grade years. I have to admit they were the best two years I had in High School. I hung out with Dennis Bryant, me, him, and the rest of the boys in Gieb got flat out wasted every night. Every single Thursday in 9th grade was a ditch day. My friend Richard Ostertag dumped the toxic waste barrel by the roach coach. Richard and I stole most of the street signs in Gieb one night, along with two fire extinguishers, and a pile of lumber to make a skateboard ramp. I made a D in Manwarings Algebra class. I lived in Germany and made the most of the experience, but damn was I a dumbass. What was I thinking? When I returned to the world I became a model student. I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida. I graduated near the top of my class. I never grew up mentally, I am a stand-up comic, immature and stupid. My day job is Production Supervisor at a Can Factory. If you wanna talk to me e-mail me, kickballpro@yahoo.com. Comments: It's time for me to make one huge confession. I was BORN in FLORIDA. [Don't faint, Larry'72!] Since my birth, I have been back there twice, first in 1985, to visit a girl who was living in Jacksonville Beach, and second in 1997, to attend a business conference in Orlando. I found Florida to be a beautiful place, with smooth sands along the sunny beaches, warm water flowing from the Gulf Stream, beautiful women of both American and Cuban stock tanning themselves, pretty boats anchored just off the shore, blue skies, green seas, billowing thunderclouds, and daily afternoon rains to clear the air, moisten the earth, and nurture the flowers everywhere. I think there are probably three really beautiful and warm places to live in the U.S.A., comprised of Florida, California, and Hawaii. And anyone who lives in either of these places is really blessed of God and very lucky too. Of course, as we all learned as kids in Europe, the U.S.A. is our favorite Country to live in on this Earth, and everyone loves their own home and misses it when they're away, whether that's a cityscape like New York with its shopping and stores, or whether its the farmlands of the Midwest. Frank Sinatra sang about New York. Johnny Denver sang about the mountains of Appalacia and Colorado. I personally agree with Jim Morrison of The Doors, but thats just because he and I each came from Florida and went on to live our lives in California.

Comments: Hello wolves. Looking at Karl's last guestbook entry set me thinking. California and the West in general have a disproportionate influence on the country and the world. However it must be recognized that in the last 20 years Florida has moved to become the 4th most populous state. And it is not all old people. That explains why Florida State U (my alma mater)and those other farm schools down the road have had some success in football lately. It has to do with population and statistics and competition. But the fundamental difference with the west coast has always been in the myth of the West which is the place people can start over and reinvent themselves. That is a concept we as army brats can appreciate.

As I was reading the entries, trying to find old friends, I noticed that there aren't that many entries from 1993-1995 graduates. Hey Classmates!! Where are you? If you are out there reading this entry, and remember me, send me an email and say, "Hi." Would love to regain contact with former Wurzburg Wolves. :)

Comments: I haven't checked the page in a couple of months because life has been so hectic and when I clicked in tonight I was so shocked and saddened to see the news of Coach Sellers. He was my art teacher and I was also a wrestling manager the 84-85 season. Coach Sellers is the one teacher I had at WAHS who I always think of and all of the memories make me smile!! Any of our wrestlers from that season out there? European finals was the best!!! My senior year would not have been complete without Coach Sellers. He encouraged me in my art, which contrary to his comments, was not so great, but the best I could do and to Coach Sellers it was as if I was Rembrandt!!! He was a wonderful man who made my experience at WAHS the best it possibly could be, I will miss him so much more just knowing he is no longer with us. Just think of all the beautiful pictures he can paint in heaven!!!!!

Comments: We need another choice besides "Just Surfed On." We need "I Check Here Often To See About My Old Friends Whom I Dearly Love." Because before the music is over, and they turn out the light, there needs to be some credit given where credit is due. Credit to James Douglas Morrison of the Doors, who wrote and sang "The west is the best / The west is the best / Get here and we'll do the rest / The blue bus is calling us / The blue bus is calling us / Driver, where are you taking us?" Jim Morrison was from Florida. He lived in California, and then died in Paris, France on July 3, 1971 while we of the W.A.H.S. Class of 72' were busy playing American football in the soccer fields of Wurzburg, Germany that summer. Credit to Jerry Spence Esq. who wrote in his book "How To Argue and Win Every Time" that "I argue because I exist; therefore if I argue with you, I grant your existence meaning, and I recognize you." The two happiest years of my life were the summer of 1968 at Ft. Sill Oklahoma as a lifeguard, lived to the tunes of "Light My Fire" and "Break On Through" by The Doors, and the school year of 1971-72 as a student at Wurzburg American High School, my senior year there. I will never forget either. Neither will I forget my friends there, back in time, and together again on this web page. Credit to Bob Manwaring, who has immortalized Wurzburg for all of us, and it seems that every 5 years or so that we will all meet somewhere on This Planet to immortalize Wurzburg and our friendships. Vegas in 2000 is next! I can hardly wait. Then 2005, and 2010, and 2020, and so on, until we all must someday die. And when you finally die, then Bob will probably hopefully say something nice about you, and everyone will remember you for one last time. So "...When the music's over / Turn out the light / Turn out the light / For the music is your special friend / Dance on fire as it intends / Music is your only friend / Until the end." See http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Palms/2914/end.html for more info on Jim Morrison. May he also rest in peace. I remember the summer of '68 and the school year of '71-'72 as I now sing Jim Morrison's songs and play them on my guitar. /s/ Karl Schubert CPA(Calif) WAHS '72 Valedictorian / Letterman / Guitar Player & Tenor.

Comments: This message is for Karl and Larry. You two amuse me, but I must say that I have to side with the East Coast gang. I have only been to California on business , so my chances to venture out into the concrete jungle were not often. In the few chances that I did get out, I was yelled at by a lady at the gas station because I utilized the pump where she had pre-paid for gas (are things that bad that you must pre-pay for gas), I was caught in the middle of an immigrant-drug trafficking scandal on the highway (I was 3 cars back as police helicopters and at least 50 squad cars stopped this car), and again was caught in another police squabble with criminals on the highway. I would have to say that I would take the alligators of Florida anyday over the concrete jungle of California. But if I had to choose anywhere to live, I would remain here in Chicago where I can go listen to great blues bands right on the sandy beach of Lake Michigan looking up at the beautiful Chicago skyline and drinking my glass of Kendall Jackson Chardonnay. This whole conversation reminds me of a conversation that Tom Abrams would have. Tom, if you are reading this, send me an e mail at Neidi.Mack@Advocatehealth.com. Larry and Karl, I look forward to meeting you two in Vegas.

Comments: Message back to my good friend Larry'72: things that rhyme with South Florida: alligators in your back yard, alligator removal services, hurricanes, mosquitoes, drug kingpins, swampland, forest fires, heat waves, drought, tornadoes. A man carrying an alligator walked into a bar in South Florida and ordered a drink. The bartender looked at the alligator and asked, where did you find that? The alligator replied, I found him lying in the gutter.

Comments: Message back to Karl re: previous guestbook entry. My condo is on the 3rd floor directly on the South Florida Intracoastal Waterway. Last night there was a festival downtown and everybody was cruising up and down in their powerboats. It was 70 degrees and the moon was rising in the east breaking through clouds of grey and white and salmon hues. There was calypso band downstairs. I have been to Northern California and certainly agree it is beautiful in a spectacular way and anyone is lucky to live there. However I would like to come to the defense of my little corner of heaven and invite all comers to a Stoli Seabreeze under the umbrella of a tropical setting sun.

Comments: Since I live on the West Coast [west coast = best coast / east coast = least coast] it would not be feasible for me to travel all the way cross country just to be in D.C. for a "premature" 1999 reunion that some W.A.H.S. alumni are offering there. Additionally, in the spirit of school loyalty and cooperation, it would make more sense for those who are organizing this premature activity planned for fall of 1999 in D.C. in the name of Our School to simply postpone their hopes and plans a few short months until July 2000. Is there anything special about 1999? No, other than a song about it, which is really more a song about 2000 than 1999 anyway. Is there any reason why a reunion has to be conducted in D.C. in 1999? No, certainly not when there is a HUGE REUNION being organized for July of 2000 in Las Vegas. Then why would anyone plan and organize a premature reunion in D.C. for fall of 1999 anyway? Misguidance. Foolishness. One-upsmanship. Ill fated pride. Social politics. Inability to compromise. I remember from my youth how school social politics worked. I also remember how Army Base politics worked. As I think further about this premature reunion being scheduled for D.C. in the fall of 1999 in the name of Our School, I muse and laugh how some things never change and how some people insist on being different somehow. My thanks go out to Bob for the ton of work he has done putting this web page together and organizing the huge Y2K reunion coming up in Vegas. And I will see everyone there, in Vegas, in July 2000, the last year of the 20th Century, and the first year with a 2000 in front of it. /s/ Karl Schubert WAHS '72 Valedictorian / Letterman.

Comments: I want everyone to know how exciting it has been talking with everyone. It has been a little sad finding out about some things. You think one way for soooooo long about an incident and suddenly - 12 years later - find out something totally different... It really makes you stop and think, "WHAT IF......" I guess you can't do that to yourself. I have the most perfect 6 year old son named Eric and WHAT IF I had never met his dad? I couldn't imagine my life without my Eric. Just some advice for anyone who has the time to read. Remember - the grass might look greener on the other side - but it's still GREEN. Who knows about this piece of information I just received?? My life could have been better - but it could have been much worse. I feel really lucky to have what I have now and I can't let it drive me crazy thinking about yesterday and WHAT IF........ I know I probably sound like a basket case, but I really turned out to be kind of normal! If anyone would like to write - my address is jacqueline.banks@aig.com SEE YOU IN VEGAS!!!!

I was fortunate to have him for two years as my art teacher, he constantly encourage us to strive for the best, not to settle for anything less. I heard him say so many times to so many students "I knew you could do it" as if he felt the same spirt of accomplishment they had achieved. He left his mark on the students of Wurzburg High for many years, and now we honor him for the difference he made in so many of our lives. Coach, we are forever grateful for your spirit of generosity, may we never forget what you taught us, allowing it to live on by passing it from one generation to the next. May God be with the Sellers family, comforting you with your loss. I rest comfortable that he resides today in a place that God has prepared for him.

After John’s funeral we spent a few days in Ventura with my sister-in-law, Karen, and nieces, Pam and Marisa Sellers. During these last few days I have been reading the kind and thoughtful cards, letters and tributes to my brother. These expressions of love and acknowledgment of how John touched each of your lives have been so appreciated by all of us. The tributes given by those of you with Wurzburg connections have been especially meaningful. I am particularly grateful for the wonderful words spoken at the funeral by John Knych and Greg Manwaring, two eloquent Wurzburg alums. Both John and Greg spoke with such heart and gift of spirit that we all seemed to be carried away with their words. Speaking extemporaneously at an event like this is extremely difficult but John and Greg spoke easily with wit and sincerity. Our dad was killed in W.W.II when John was a little boy and I was a baby. So, I have always considered having a brother like John to be a special gift from God to me. John filled our house with laughter and happiness. Always caring and generous, he made growing up a happy time for me. Thank you all for the kindness and love you have expressed in John’s memory and to all of us in his family. Sincerely, Johanna Sellers Reiter

Then I moved to Wurzburg and was at WAHS from 1971-1973. My brother Randy Sanders graduated from WAHS in 1971. We hope to attend the reunion in 2000! Can't wait to hear from many more wolves from the 70's! Since leaving Germany I have been in contact with but lost touch with Barb Furr and Greg Kenney. Does anyone have information on them? Hope to hear from many old friends soon!

As many of you know, I married Dona Johnson (math, 1978-82). We have two wonderful children and have lived in Texas for the last 7 years. When I get time, I'll check out the guest book and hope to see some former students.

Comments: Hello wolves. Great to see all the commotion surrounding the 2000 event! Hats off to Bob for another monumental effort. Don't forget your sunscreen! A personal note to John Sellars: John, I have so much to thank you for. Many of what I consider to be my best traits I got from you. You never preached. You spoke. You shared. You led by example. You exposed me to the thoughts and teachings of those whom you revered. Thank god I listened and watched. Your influence has helped me get through the lowest points of my life while helping me appreciate all that I have to be thankful for. You showed me how to push myself and others to greater acheivement. Most of all, I learned the value of being unselfish and kind. John, thank you for being a pillar of honor and repect. I am a much better man for it.

Comments: Hey there... I have been reading over many messages. First I know it's a little late, but my condolenses (sp?) to the Sellers family. I only had him for one year of art, (funny enough my brother Michael Medina ('91)was also in that class. He always showed me up in art class.) Coach Sellers made it very fun for me and I enjoyed the class, even though I didn't have one artistic bone in me. Second...where is the class of '89? It seems like they all have just dropped off the face of the planet. Hey if you remember me drop me a line. I would love to hear what ever one has been up to. I am also looking for two people in particular...Amy Porter and Pete Henderson. So if you know how to reach them let me know please. I have been keeping up with Mindy (Higgins) Weigand, Diana Ybarra (sorry if I missed spelled that Diana), Mike Moss, Henry Brooks and sometimes Tobin Costen. Anyway, love to hear from you guys so drop me a line. later Eddie

Comments: I attended WAHS half of my senior year and graduated with some of you. I'm thrilled to see this site and spent most of today reading all the postings. I stuck around after graduation and got my AA there at Leighton; returned to the states, got married to my wonderful husband Tony in '92, and my beautiful son Avery was born in '93. We just returned to the 20th century last year from the depths of Cochabamba, Boliva (where my son was born). We live in a suburb of Dallas now and have a great life and even better friends. I would love to hear from any of you who remember me, and even those of you who don't. :0) I'm still in touch with my brothers (John and Ed), Lisa Comstock (who's probably in touch with all of you already ;0) ) and Shaniel Lamones (my bestest friend). If you'd like to write to any of them, let me know. Take care and see you in Vegas!

Comments: It was certainly sad to hear the loss of a great coach, teacher, and person. I never did have Mr. Sellers as a teacher but I knew him as a coach. I recall a conversation he had with me when he was recruiting for the wrestling team...I never did wrestle...I chose the basketball route instead. He was quite the "salesman." As we mourn the loss of a friend, we can think of all he contributed to the Wurzburg community and the way he touched so many lives of so many people in a positive way. He will be missed. Brenda and I extend our hearts and prayers to the Sellers' family and wish them the very best.

Comments: fellow wolves: I would like to share an interesting interview I heard with author-in-hiding Salmon Rushdie ("The Satanic Verses"). He was born in India and then moved via the Middle East to England. His point is that people have the conflicting desire for a sense of home and a desire to wander. William Faulkner never left home yet created a whole universe arising from the patch of ground under his feet. Those of us that wander must instead create that same sense of home in our minds wherever we are because the patch of ground under us is not really home in the same way .....

Comments: My thanks to both Bob Manwaring '76 and to Genevieve Knych '82 for their nice notes describing each of their visits to Malibu, Southern California, to attend the memorial for Coach Sellars. I considered flying down from Northern California to attend too, but I'm just too buried at work with our Y2K conversion, and my boss wouldnt be at ease about it if I went. So I very much appreciated both Bob's and Genevieve's descriptions. Coach Sellars was brand new at Wurzburg in 1971 when I met him. I was a Junior then. He took over coaching the wrestling team from Coach Sanders who had gone back to the USA. I remember thinking back in 1971 about Coach Sellars that "this guy is too NICE to be a wrestling coach." I couldnt have been more wrong. He turned out to be the best wrestling coach that Wurzburg ever had.

Comments: Hello everyone. I have just returned from Coach Sellers beautiful memorial service, and just thought I would quickly fill you in on the details. As I pulled into the parking lot of the Malibu Pres. Church I was greeted by John and Genevieve Knych, who had driven down from Northern California. It was a beautiful day here in L.A., and at the Church the sun was shining, and a wonderful breeze was flowing through the canyon. The Pacific Ocean could also be seen in all its glory! As we entered the Church, we were greeted by Mrs. Sellers, and her lovely daughters, Pam and Marisa. Hugs and Greetings were exchanged (as were a few tears), and for me, a sense of comfort was had seeing these old Wurzburg friends. Coach Sellers was truly blessed to have such a wonderful family! The room, before you entered the church, was filled with artwork made by Coach, and many, many, photos spanning Coaches lifetime! The programme we were given for the service, featured a painted postcard made this year by Coach- a lovely touch indeed! We also got to meet Coaches Sister, Brother-in-law, and nephew (Chris looks alot like a young Coach!), as well as Mrs. Sellers sister. The Service itself was just beautiful! There were many bouquets filling the stage, as Rev. David Worth began with a call to worship. Rev. Karen Greschel then asked if anyone would like to share memories they had of Coach? After a short pause, our very own John Knych stood up and gave everyone a wonderful insight into John Sellers- family friend, Coach, and Art Teacher! He had some very humorous recollections! The Sellers next door neighbor then got up and remembered him, as did a lady from Minnesota, who remembered him as a young boy! Rev. Karen then shared the thoughts of Pam and Marisa, which had us all in tears! The love that family shares is truly inspiring! Coach was first and foremost a family man, lovingly devoted to his wife (and best friend), and two daughters! Asked if anyone else would like to share any thoughts, I fumbled my way to the microphone, and proceeded to blubble through (though they were tears of joy) a few memories I had of Coach. After rambling on too long, I sat down and let Rev. Karen finish the service! A friend of Pam and Marisa's, Ms. Debbie Berko, then sang a touching rendition of 'Amazing Grace'! The service closed with an Irish Medley. Afterwards, we all headed over to Marisa's house for a more cheerful gathering, complete with food and drink! More fond memories of Coach were shared by all! Before leaving, we took some pictures, and then promised to see one another at next years reunion! All in all, Coach Sellers Memorial was a completely beautiful affair- a fitting tribute to a wonderful man, friend, coach, and teacher!

Comments: I am greatly saddened to hear of the death of Coach Sellers. I was on the wrestling team at WHS in 70-71 although I lived in Schweinfurt. Because of the distance Coach Sellers had me stay with he and his wife at their home. Even though I wasn't much of a wrestler he never berated me for losing and always tried to cheer me up. I was able to write him thanks to the WHS website. Just a month or so ago he wrote me a really nice reply. I was able to coach wrestling during my time as a teacher and I used Coach Sellers' techniques in instructing the wrestlers. Thanks, Bob Manwaring, for the site as it allowed me to get in touch with Coach Sellers after 27 years. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing but at the same time I am so glad I was able to know him.

As Tiny told me yesterday Herb and Coach are now creating new moves and trying them out on each other. Bob, once I get the copies of the pictures from Hector and Jolene (Herb's daughter) of Coach back in the very late 60's when he coached Hector in basketball and up to the last match with Herb, I'll send them to you. He was one of a kind, I'll never forget him. Hector is looking for a few of his old buddies from the wild days, if anyone knows where they are please e-mail me. Hector is still in the ice age. He's looking for Russell Hemple, Steve Bach and Viktor Ramof. As for me, if you remember me drop me a line. I would love to her from Charmaine Herrera if anyone knows where she is let her know I'am looking for her, Thanks

Comments: Dear Friends, As many of your are aware coach died on April 15, 1999. I just let you know that there was a wonderful page posted on "OUR" website. To many of us Coach was a wonderful person and a very caring person. I just wanted to make sure that we let his family know how much he influenced our lives. I must say that I have been brought to tears, as I remember him coming to bat for me against Dr. Ware on the eve of the European Championships in 1984. I had gotten suspended for fight with David Dover in Ms.. Carrows class, therefore I was not allowed to participate. Coach knowing that I had just won the southern regionals after having a neck injury the year prior, argued with >Dr. Ware for the entire day never giving up for me. He was and always have a special place in my heart. For that I LOVE him dearly. I hope your memories of him are many. Please join me in expressing our condolences to his family, and sharing the wonderful memories he contributed to our lives. Love and Friendship ALWAYS! Ramon L. Lopez-Ortiz

I browsed through the guestbook. I recognized so many names. At some point throughout the 3 years at WAHS, we have shared a moment in life together. Whether it was a class, lunch, just passing each other in the hall or lending a helping hand. I wish I could remind everyone of you how and when we met, but I can't. I hope we'll be able to meet in Vegas and enjoy memories then. Take care everyone. Still trying to find Ralph Jackson. Help!!!!

Comments: "Ray, you can do it that way if you are trying to fail, but trust me, if you only apply the techniques I'm showing you, you'll be bound for success in class as well as the football field". as so would the other successful negotiations that we find through out our lives, COACH SELLERS seem to always put a steering drive toward the goal achieving prospective. He always seemed to be easy going, until it came to putting effort into our endeavors, no wonder why he was so successful as a teacher and coach. If only we would have had others, along the way at our other schools we attended over the years, that were this motivated into getting the message across I firmly believe that we would all have everything we ever wanted cause we all would be successful. My sincere sympathy goes out to the family of MR. (COACH) JOHN SELLERS, and may your hearts be blessed knowing that he will be remembered in our hearts and minds as one who molded so many young people into the great souls we are today...he will be missed..............GO SUPER WOLF!!!!!

Comments: It is nice to have been told about this page. What is not nice is to log in and find that an Art Teacher you had admired has passed on. I really liked Mr Sellars! Having had 4 years of art I got to know him quite well and he was a very nice man. I may have been a so so wrestling manager for his team in 1983 but it enabled me to get a varsity letter, and he also awarded me a varsity letter in Artwork. He really knew how to let a person know if they were doing good! I will miss him very much, as I know his family will miss him. Thank you for those of you that I have lost touch with in the passed! I like it very much to get your e-mail. But if it looks like I loose touch again, I am headed to Dallas Texas and should be settled in no later than July 1999! So tune in here and I will update. Comments: I keep coming back, looking for '66 "old" or "former" classmates! You just can't find many of us any more. An extinct species?! Certainly, NOT yet! Reading the many many postings here, it hits you! Just how long this school has been here. Almost as long as many "American" High Schools. Remember when we graduated, thinking we would probably never be able to find each other again, certainly not expecting a reunion or two. Let's make sure to mingle this reunion, and not just sit with our classes. In my case, last time around, that meant just ME! Get in touch! Keep in touch!

Comments: Hello wolves. It is very sad to hear about Coach Sellars passing on. I heard about his battle and wrote him a quick note about a month ago. He responded and sent me a wonderful watercolor postcard that is displayed in my office. It draws comments from my clients. I was on the wrestling team in the 185 weight class. He pushed me hard and in my senior year I got to the Regionals and European Finals. Adolescence is not easy. We are struggling to find self-confidence. There is nothing quite so terrifying and confidence-building as being in the upper end of the weight class looking at your opponent across the mat and waiting your turn. Coach Sellars was always there supporting me and making me feel like I could do it. He once told me I had the strength of a thousand bulls. I am now a trial lawyer and just before we select the jury and the courtroom is packed and everything turns on my words I feel the same way. But I get through it without a Coach Sellars behind me. Sometimes though it would be nice to hear Coach Sellars behind me telling me "Go get 'em -you've got the strength of a thousand bulls!"..... We are the product of many people that shape us. Some do that more than others. I think of Coach Sellars as on of the more important people in that regard. He will me missed.

Comments: John Sellars took over coaching the WAHS wrestling team in 1971 and overnight turned Wurzburg into a European powerhouse for wrestling that year, a complete turn around from previous years when the team had had almost no success. I wrestled junior varsity in 1970 but not at all in 1971. I wish I had known Coach Sellars better, because then I would have become a better wrestler. But I knew of him, because of his many achievements. And I will always remember him and envy those WAHS athletes who wrestled for him in 1971 and thereafter.

Comments: Let me start by sending out my heartfelt condolensces to Mrs. Sellers, and their two daughters. I, like everyone else who was ever fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Coach Sellers, was deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Like the warrior he was, he bravely fought his illness all the way to the end (while still keeping his wonderful sense of humor!). I am so happy that I was able to see him on a few (too few) occasions these past few years. He really loved being around his friends and loved ones from Wurzburg! He loved to reminisce about his Wurzburg days! It's funny, but everytime I find a long lost Wolf on the Internet, the one teacher they always fondly remember is Coach Sellers! I'm sorry that many of these old wolves will not get the chance to catch up with Coach Sellers at next years reunion- but you can bet he'll be brought up in hundreds of conversations- the stories will definitely flow!! On a personal note, Coach Sellers was there for me, as my Art Teacher and Mentor, as I began to dream and pursue my goal of one day being a Walt Disney Animator. He encouraged me in my pursuit, and I can only hope that he was somewhat proud of me when I finally acheived that goal! Over the past couple of years, we had been trying to arrange a date that he could come visit me at Disney, so that he could actually see the animation process, and see where all of the Disney Magic takes place. Regretfully, we were never able to pull it off. I will always remember the deep passion, and love, he had for Art- it was something I always admired in him! Memories of Coach Sellers will always be etched in my mind (how many of you ever saw the mural he had painted on the dining room wall of their apartment in bldg. 119?) I will always have a smile cross my face, when a memory of Coach Sellers fondly creeps into my thoughts! Goodbye Coach, may you rest in peace!

Comments: The biggest party I ever threw had about 100 people. This reunion will definitely set a record. 353 registered alumni, parents, and faculty probably translates into over 500 people when you add their significant others (which I did think about), not to mention the non-email alumni (which I did not know about). So far, it looks like we will be taking up at least half of the hotel's 711 rooms. I wouldnt be too surprised if we ended up needing all of them, as word gets around during the intervening months. Sounds exciting. Ironically, you can only have a maximum of 23 players in a Texas Holdem Poker game [(52-5) '/. 2 & rounded down]. But that would be a record too, since I have only played with up to 10 so far! This reunion looks to be the Mother of all Reunions. It will be hard to top, when we have the next one, in 2005.

Comments: concerning Hans note about the reunion attendance, i have been crunching the numbers too. it IS going to be a big party. one thing he forgot to mention is that there will be quite a few guests, spouses, family members, parents, and "signifigant others" attending too. another thing is that the alumni on the mailing list who do not have e-mail addresses have not been notified yet. i have not updated the database in quite a while and have a huge stack of information to enter into the database. once this is done, i will make a mailing to everyone that doesn't have e-mail or internet access. once those wolves are informed about the reunion, the numbers are going to jump even more! i do think it's time to talk to the gold coast hotel about increasing the number of rooms reserved. that's on my list of things to do. i did hear back from them concerning the room rates, they have not been finalized yet for the summer of 2000 but they are estimating $69/night for friday and saturday evenings. the weekday rates are cheaper if you arrive early or stay later. once i recieve confirmation of rates, i will post that information promptly. i imagine you're all as excited as i am. this is gonna be quite the party! see ya then!!!

Comments: I wonder who is coming to the Y2K reunion in Vegas next year? This thought caused me to crunch the numbers on the 2000 Page. Here is what I got: Total attendance looks to be 353 so far, including all former students, faculty, and parents signed up. Bob, I dont think 300 rooms is going to be quite enough, if everyone shows. Classes represented range from the Class of '61 (Chief Hambly & Tex Osborne) to the Class of '98, plus two soon-to-graduate from '99 and plus "Graphics by" Laird Schrock of '01. Within that range, all classes are represented. The class with the most participants looks to be the Class of '80 with 25 signed up, followed in second place by the Class of '84 with 21. All the classes sort out as follows: '61 has 2, '62 has 1, '63 has 4, '64 has 3, '65 has 7, '66 has 4, '67 has 5, '68 has 4, '69 has 3, '70 has 6, '71 has 3, '72 has 4, '73 has 3, '74 has 5, '75 has 10, '76 has 12, '77 has 20, '78 has 12, '79 has 13, '80 has 25 like I said earlier, '81 has 14, '82 has 17, '83 has 6, '84 has 21 also like I said earlier, '85 has 12, '86 has 10, '87 has 12, '88 has 11, '89 has 8, '90 has 7, '91 has 11, '92 has 14, '93 has 9, '94 has 4, '95 has 5, '96 has 4, '97 has 5, and '98 has 3, '99 has 2, and one from '01. In addition, there look to be 18 former faculty and 14 parents (no, I didnt double-count the Knychs and the Manwarings, who are both parents and faculty!) That's quite a group. In a small school such as ours, most people knew everyone in their graduating class, in addition to the class before them and the class after. So that will be a whole lot of friends reuniting for the first time in 20 to 40 years! Now THATS what I call a PARTY!! (Numbers dont lie ... as much.) See you there!

Comments: As I venture into my 23rd year today, I reflect on all the happiness, moments of carthasis, and hopes for the new year. In my 22 years treading this glorious planet Mother Earth, I have learned three things life : Life is Beautiful (Benigni portrays this better), play well with others, and love your mother. This past year has been a rollar coaster of emotions, promotions, and finances. But I woke up this morning - and I finally got IT! I understand. The bonds I forged in high school with everyone who is dear to my heart I am very grateful for .....Jenet, Erin, Charmain, Teresa, Kris, Ed, Kevin, Steve, Ron....and to my bestest of all best friends, shoulder I've cried on, fashion critic, editor, and former roommate - my sister Jennifer. I love all of you and the support you have given me means more to me than I could possible say! So- what are Lisa's 23rd year expectations? ATTAINABLE. The year has started excellant so far- all surprises and gifts from close friends - maybe growing older isn't so bad! (Edward - aren't you proud of me - I didn't lie about my age!) In the course of a week, I have raced the Interstate Battery NASCAR at 180mph on Texas Motorspeedway, debuted in an Oliver Stone film, and will be in Row 10 of the George Strait Concert on Sunday. I want to start grad school (UTA) start piano lessons again, and learn to fly! I LOVE ALL OF YOU AND CAN'T WAIT TILL THE REUNION.

Comments: Dear Hans, "numbers don't lie"?(see guest entry 4/12) hmmmm.....it has always been my feeling that numbers are like dogs-perhaps they cannot tell a lie....but neither can they be sincere. And speaking of lies I always thought there are three kinds--1.)lies, 2.)damned lies, 3.)and statistics... I have also heard that anything can be described in terms of numbers. If that is the case than even the joy of debating esoteric topics with an old school chum can be expressed as a number....a big number....like 10 to the 23rd...

Comments: A new photo! Cool. Logging onto Bob's/our WAHS web page is now on the list of the first things that I do every day. To all of you Wurzburg alumni out there like Larry Taube who became lawyers, let me say that it is good to debate with you again, across all these miles and decades of time, now that none of us has kid minds anymore. To all the Class of 1970 thru 1975 whom I knew personally from Wurzburg, ... well ... yah ... I miss all of you! When I was in the Navy after college, my last year was spent working in the J.A.G. office of the 3rd Fleet Headquarters. [Before the recent T.V. series, no one knew what J.A.G. meant; now everyone does cause its got good rating points!] So I got my fill of lawyering then. And I decided that for me that advocacy is too emotionally straining. I prefer numbers. Numbers dont lie as much. A lot of the other guys from Wurzburg went into the Armed Forces too. Joe Nadeau and Steve Robinson from the football team went into the Army, and Steve stayed for 20 years. Mark Hirsch from the basketball team went into the Coast Guard. I've read about a few Air Force too here and there on this site and on the Military Brats Registry, which is the original site where Sabrina first told me about Bob's WAHS web page. Since I was in the Navy, I will sing you a song ... we sang lots of songs in the Navy, mostly at 0.2 to 0.3 percent blood alcohol, Larry [Taube]! But this song is a special song. If there are other folks at the Y2K reunion who were in the Navy too, maybe we will all sing it for you then. And we might also draft Mark Hirsch and the others from the Coast Guard to sing with us. Anchors A'Weigh! "Anchors aweigh, my boys. Anchors aweigh! Farewell to olives shores, we sail at break of day, Hey! Hey! Hey! To our last night ashore, drink to the boat! Until we meet once more here's wishing you a happy voyage home!" I dont know the Army song [The Army Goes Rolling Along] but my dad did, since he was in the army himself, may he rest in peace. Joe and Steve, you can sing that one for us in Vegas! See you there. Bring lots of money with you to play poker with! Take a look at the details for the poker game on the 2000 page. Later!!

Comments: Let's see what trouble I can cause on the web as folks say, "It's that Sandy guy!" I am now a lawyer-I do appeals in the state appellate courts in Virginia for public defender offices. It's great! I have run for elective office-state representative-but did not win. I am probably finished with politics for now-too much fundraising and negativity. But ideas are essential to the political process. I have a wife (Nina) and daughter (Clarissa Gayle-she is two years old) and live in Richmond, VA. It is good tohear from fellow alums and hope to be at the 2000 reunion. I am curious about Annette Shiley-she was/is Chris Shiley's brother. She was an awesome writer. How 'bout Loren Erickson-fine individual. And these others I remeber fondly from WAHS. Mary Franz? Candie Happle? Bart Karlberg? Allen Mauney? Wanda Teel? Cathy Kelly? Daryl Jackson? Debbie O'Neal? Janet Farquharson? Barbel Gordon? Gotta run, I commend Bob Manwaring on all his work! GOOOO WOLVES! Sandy
